Enroll.

Register at Foothill.

To take college classes, you must apply to Foothill College. To apply, complete the Open CCC application (Open California Community College) being careful to apply as a dual enrollment student and to use your student email address (not your parent's email address). You will receive an email with your Foothill student ID number.  Next login to the Foothill student MyPortal to view your account.  Important: Save both your Open CCC and MyPortal user ID and password.  You will need them to register for classes each quarter.

Determine college placement.

Students can determine their eligibility for Foothill Math and English classes by providing a copy of their latest high school transcript to the Foothill Testing & Assessment Office (Bldg. 8200, Rm. 8212). Transcripts can be dropped off in the Assessment Office or emailed to fhtesting@fhda.edu.  Please consult the College Now! Advisor for placement in language and science classes.  It's important to allow at least one week for placement results, prior to registering for classes.

Get permission for classes.

High school students attending Foothill College must complete a Concurrent Enrollment Form prior to the start of each college quarter.  The form must be reviewed and approved by both parents and the CollegeNow! Advisor to make sure students are on track to meet their high school graduation requirements.

Start by reviewing the Foothill College class schedule to find classes that your are interested in taking and that also meet your high school graduation requirements. It is strongly advised that you list at least 10 courses on your form, since all courses may not be open for enrollment.

Submit the completed and signed online form to your CollegeNow! Advisor. Set up an appointment to review your course selection.  Once approved, the course permissions will be added to your Foothill account. You will then be able to register for classes.  Note:  Adding permissions to the Foothill system does not automatically register you for classes; you also need to log in to MyPortal to register for classes. Remember that you cannot register for a class that is not listed on your form; you need to complete another concurrent enrollment form for any additional classes you want to take.

Register for classes.

Once you have completed your college placement and submitted your Concurrent Enrollment Form, you can register for classes.  Allow approximately 5 days for the Concurrent Enrollment Form to be processed. CollegeNow! students can start registering for classes online with "New, non-matriculated college students".  Refer to Foothill Dates & Deadlines for the specific registration dates.

Get your Foothill student ID.

Go to the ASFC Smart Shop (room 2016, in the Student Services Bldg. 2000) to get your student ID/Owl Card. Just present your student ID number and an official photo ID (e.g., drivers license, passport, or high school id card & birth certificate).

Buy books.

Your instructor will email you with the list of required course materials, or will give you the list on your first day of class.

Books can be obtained at the Foothill bookstore. Simply present your Foothill student ID card to the cashier and let them know you are a CollegeNow! student so they can charge it to the CollegeNow! account. Note: Notebooks and other basic school supplies are not included.

For online materials available through the Foothill online bookstore, select your books and proceed to checkout. Then select "SFA" (student financial aid) under payment options, enter your student id again for account number, and select "no" for make an additional payment. The books will then be charged to the CollegeNow! account and your books will be sent to the address listed in your account.  Here is a quick video that will walk you through the steps. NOTE: You may get an error message when you first set up your bookstore account: "email and password recognized". Ignore it and login again with the same email address and use your CWID as your password.  The system will then prompt you to set up a new password and you can continue.  If you get locked out, please send an email to Annett Trail (annett.trail@mvla.net) to get a pw reset link.

For any other online materials, charge ebooks to your credit card and submit the receipt to Annett Trail (annett.trail@mvla.net) for reimbursement.
